Nintendo is one of the three major console producers today.
They have released many successful platforms, including:
- NES
- SNES
- N64
- Gamecube
- Wii
Nintendo can be thanked for keeping the video game industry alive after about every other major player pulled out of the market during the Video Game Crash of 1983, in which there were too many consoles out in the market.
Since 1985, Nintendo has been a strong contender for the top console producer and has batted heads with Playstation and Xbox.
Their current model, the Wii, currently has control of the market, having sold the most units at 56 million.
Their is speculation of a new Nintendo console in the future, as many have seen that Nintendo’s R&D has jumped to three times (370 million) the amount of money that it was during the production of the Wii.
